Wendy Donald is a Melbourne based artist with experience in drawing and monoprinting, and she is currently exploring paint after many years.
She was trained at the National Gallery School (now Victorian College of the Arts) under John Brack, Ian Armstrong, and Murray Walker.
Life took Wendy in many directions, including writing a thesis titled 'Alannah Colman, the Woman and her Role in Promoting Australian Art and Artists in London 1960's'. She completed a graduate course in museum studies (art galleries).
After exhibiting work on a number of introverted themes, she has recently developed much more extroverted and joyful scenes. Her work shows maturity and an intimate look into her life and study of the human figure.

A monoprint is a form of printmaking that produces a unique, one-of-a-kind image, often described as a "printed painting". Unlike traditional printmaking, which produces identical multiples, monoprints cannot be replicated exactly. They are created by applying ink or paint to a smooth, non-porous surface (plate) and transferring it to paper, often combining elements of painting, drawing, and printmaking techniques.
I'm demonstrating my technique. I ink up an acrylic sheet, I drop a sheet of paper on the acrylic sheet, I draw and mark the back of the paper. Ink is picked up where pressure is applied. The image is a combination of preconceived images and accidental incidents. The paper is pulled from the ink and the print is on the other side. Colour is added with pastel or acrylics.
